There are a lot of differences in cooktops. Some are electric cooktops, gas cooktops and pro-style gas rangetops. Gas and electric cooktops come in a multitude of styles and configurations to complement your unique cooking style and kitchen decor. Electric cooktops can often feature custom control temperature management system that allows elements to repond in a way that is similar to cooking with gas. Electric smoothtop cooktops are easier to clean than gas cooktops, with more flexible features.

In general, gas cooktops aren't as well-reviewed as electric cooktops. Although gas cooktops aren't as easy to clean as electric smoothtop models, many owners like the visual control over heat that comes with a gas cooktop.

Cooktop surfaces can range from ceramic cooktops, glass cooktops to stainless steel cooktops, flat one-piece ceramic glass surfaces are sleek and easy-to-clean. Stainless steel cooktops offer the user that modern, clean look. Glass ceramic cooktops have basically three options: radiant, halogen, magnetic-induction.

Each type uses electricity to heat up a flat, glass ceramic surface, using control knobs or a touchpad to turn the heat on and off. Induction cooktops are the latest technology, using electromagnetic energy to heat the pan while maintaining a cooler cooktop. These cooktops are the latest technology and often carry with it a much higher price tag. Magnetic induction doesnt work with aluminum pots and pans, only with steel and cast iron. If you cant stick a magnet on your pots and pans, they wont work with this option.
