The definition of good graduation songs will clearly depend very much on many factors. The factors can include the type of educational institution, the taste of the graduates and also what songs really would represent the class and their achievements. Many schools, colleges and universities have roughly the same music played at each graduation so you do need to be very aware of the history and traditions before you recommend some good graduation songs. Indeed for many of us looking in from the outside we may see that as a rather excellent tradition and see it as a good thing. For some on the inside of the institution it may feel a bit of a constraint when they believe that other graduation songs really do say it better. However the thing to do here is to produce a very good case for making a change and see how best you can present it.

Without going into a lot of details there are many classic songs which would make good graduation songs at your graduation ceremony. The classic Pomp and Circumstance by Elgar has been a standard for American graduation ceremonies for many decades. Even if you just use it to triumphantly bring the graduates into the ceremony hall then it will be great to hear and a fitting tribute to their achievements. There are others such as the best selling Vitamin C graduation songs called Graduation (Friends Forever). This is another song that includes the whole range of emotions about the success, saying goodbye and the great future. If you look back over the years you will see We Are The Champions, By Queen, and also I Did It My Way by Elvis and examples of best selling good graduation songs, and there are many others. Somehow they just fit at points in the graduation ceremony and have been very popular. So if you are short of time they can be great recommendations as the graduation music to play. On checking the past graduation songs used you will know if they fit or not.

However you may have the time to take this further and be happy to do some research. An important place to start is to see if there is music that is close to the hearts of the class as a whole. Over the years the class may have used a particular song, they may support a charity which has a great song or they may have music that they all have just loved recently. The thing to do here is just talk to them and find out what they think. You can also go onto those wonderful websites where people share ideas on graduation songs.
