A Heart disease is any sickness that affects the natural functions of the heart. The heart is responsible for pumping precious blood, oxygen and nutriments throughout the body. There are various types of disease which affect the heart that can be followed by by various symptoms. If not treated Heart disease can have a devastating impact on the body and can even be life threateningy.
The various types of heart illnesses are:
Congenital heart disease - this heart disease affects newborn babies when there is a defect in the structure of the heart and the blood vessels attached to it. There may be an obstruction in the blood flow which makes the heart unable to function properly.
Angina - this heart dysfunction occurs as a result of not enough blood and oxygen reaching a particular area of the heart. This normally results in symptoms that produce having great discomfort in the chest cavity
Arrhythmia - this heart disease occurs when there is abnormal electrical activity in the heart. The heart beat may be, either too slow or too fast, regular or irregular.
Dilated cardiomyopathy - This heart condition weakens the heart and causes it to become bigger because it is unable to pump blood effectively.
Coronary Heart Disease - this is the most common form of heart diseas. It happens when the coronary circulation is not working properly because of problems with the arteries connecting to the heart.
Mitral valve prolapsed - this is considered as a valvular heart disease that disrupts the normal function of the mitral valve so that valve between the left atrium and left ventricle is unable to close properly.
Mitral regurgitation - this is also known as mitral incompetence which prevents the mitral valve from closing properly and so impacts how the heart pumps blood.
Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy - this heart disease affects the muscle of the heart known as the myocardium and is also the number 1 cause of sudden cardiac death.
Rheumatic heart disease - this condition damages the valve of the heart by rheumatic fever and can cause damage to the entire heart and its membranes.
Hypertensive heart disease - Also called hypertension is a condition that causes Stenosis - is an illness which alters the structure and function of the right ventricle caused by a primary disorder of the respiratory system. It occurs when the blood going to the lung becomes blocked or slows down.
Constrictive pericarditis - is an infection of the pericardium which can cause heart attacks.
Heart murmurs - are extra heart noises produced when there is a rush of blood flow that is sufficient to produce audible noise.
Tachycardia - is a heart condition which alters the normal range for a resting heart rate. This may be very dangerous and cause serious complications.
Atrial myxoma - is a non-cancerous [tissue growth on the upper left or right side of the heart. The tumor grows on the wall that comes between the two sections of the heart
Infective endocarditis (IE) - is infection of the endocardial surface of the heart that can result in intractibe congestive heart failure.
Supraventricular tachycardia - this heart disease causes a rapid change in the speed of the heart in the ventricular tissue.
