Paolo Benigno IV, National Youth Commission (NYC) Chair and Chief Executive Officer, shared the noble cause of the Corps to protect the environment when he signed and endorsed the Call to Save Mt. Apo and the Mountains of the World. HDI National Vanguard Corps Commander Marc Collins Colinares presented the call document during the Third Sangguniang Kabataan General Assembly last May 22, 2005. NYC Presidential Staff and Region XI Coordinator Georgina Nava, and Steve Arquiza, National Youth Parliamentary Coordinator Region XI also signed the call document.
Aquino told the Corps as quote, Our country needs young people like you. And the fact that you are doing your share makes you exceptional and exemplary. Continue to inspire and be inspired. Likewise Arquiza encouraged the Corps to continue to share its goodness in its human development program, through campaign and advocacy particularly at this time in history where the country needs institutions like the HDI Vanguard Corps for Peace and Development to help the youth. Lastly he said to the Corps to keep up its good work. The said event was attended by 100 SK Chairpersons that was held at the Davao City Council Conference Room.
The National Youth Commission is a key participant in the Call to Save the Mountains of the World done at Mt. Apos summit in February 25, 2002, represented by the former NYC Commissioner Girlie Amarillo. NYC is a partner of HDI in youth activities in the country. The Vanguard Corps has also taken part in its Ship for Southeast Asia Program with the Japan International Cooperating Agency where HDI previous Vanguard National Commander Marnellie Millanes visited key cities in Southeast Asia and Japan, as well as interacted with other youth and government officials in the region.
