Mendoza takes center role as HDI-Philippines Executive Director, Assistant to the Chairperson for International Affairs, and Ambassador of the Call to Save the Mountains of the World. His length of service and performance were instrumental in his promotion. He was a second year high school student when he enlisted in the Corps, a small kid who took part in the Call for Volunteerism Towards Peace, Human Development and the Preservation of Mother Earth at the peak of Mt. Apo in March 5, 2001 led by Mrs. Virginia Davide, the First Lady of the Supreme Court. He participated in the Call to Save the Mountains of the World in February 25, 2002. As Vanguard Corps Commander he led the climb at Mt. Apo last November 13-17, 2003 with the U.N. Volunteers led by Beatriz Fernandez, UNV-Philippines Program Officer who cited his achievements. Alakija Capelling, the late UNV Executive Coordinator also cited his effort during the IYV 2001 celebration.Sandra Romero, the concurrent UNV-Philippines Program Officer and Lilia A. Montesines-Capalad Country Operations Asst. wished Mendoza more power in his endeavors. He is the Editor-in-Chief of the HD FORUM, and presenter in the film Call in the Wilderness and the, Deepening Democracy in a Fragmented World.
He led the Call to Save the Mountains of the World in front of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo at Davao City last March 16, 2000 where he exalted Her Excellency with a speech and a snappy salute which the President acknowledged and waved the Corps to be with her as she signed the call document. He also joined the planting of the Kofi Annan Tree at Mt. Apo. This year he was sent on mission to the United States where he performed with distinction. He presented the Call to Save the Mountains Report to UNDP Regional Bureau for Asia and the Pacific in New York; the Philippine Mission to the United Nations; Office of the City Mayor of Milpitas, Ca., and the Philippine Embassy in Washington D.C. These justify Mendozas promotion as HDI Philippines Executive Director.
